Alkaline Trio
Alkaline Trio is a melodic punk trio from Chicago, a signature blend of straightforward punk and dramatic, emotional lyrics featuring subjects such as alcoholism, heartbreak, drug addiction, self-harm and death. Much of the band's charm is often accredited to the contrasting singing & songwriting styles of Matt Skiba and Dan Andriano, who alternate singing duties throughout their albums.
Formed in 1996, the original lineup consisting of Matt Skiba (vocals, guitar), Rob Doran (bass, vocals), and Glen Porter (drums, vocals). After the release of Sundials EP on Asian Man Records in 1997, Rob Doran was replaced by ex-Slapstick bassist Dan Andriano. The following year, the band released it's second EP For Your Lungs Only . Their first full-length album entitled Goddamnit was released later in 1998.
Following the release of Goddamnit , the Trio released two more albums in 2000, Maybe I'll Catch Fire and the self-titled Alkaline Trio, a collection of their earlier EP tracks.
2001 saw big changes for the band, as they were signed to Vagrant Records while they also added ex-Smoking Popes drummer Mike Felumlee to their lineup, replacing Glen Porter. This new Trio released From Here To Infirmary that same year, which, thanks in part to smoother production, landed the band its first mainstream exposure.
After From Here to Infirmary , Mike Felumlee was replaced by ex-Suicide Machines drummer Derek Grant, to complete the Alkaline Trio lineup as it currently stands. Good Mourning was released in mid-2003, the first Alkaline Trio album tied to big-name producer Jerry Finn, and the first obvious departure into a more mainstream sound. May 24th, 2005 saw the release of the band's fifth album, Crimson providing the singles "Time To Waste," "Mercy Me," and "Burn." Remains was recently released in 2007
